Telling the story of the places I’ve traveled hiking through art
A taste of what’s to come, Mt San Jacinto may be in southern California but bares strong resemblance to mountains of the Sierra Nevada. Large boulders, and coniferous trees dwarf the land while water trickles slowly down to the dry valley below. This mountain is the first serious challenge for northbound Pacific Crest Trail thru hikers as it’s peak is near 11,000 ft in elevation, sporting a very long climb to the top. Descending this mountain I turned around for one last look, and caught it in the final rays of light. The setting sun casting colors across the landscape like what’s shown in the painting above.
