Mt Hood Sunrise
Landscape paintings inspired by my 2022 thru hike of the Pacific Crest Trail
Clouds blanket the valley below with Mt Hood rising into the atmosphere. Hiking away from Timberline Lodge and heading north towards the Eagle Creek alternate, Cascade Locks, and Washington this is one of the last big views looking back. A reminder of the prominent volcanos scattered about Oregon and the time spent hiking around them.
Mt Hood is the tallest mountain in Oregon and the only mountain to rise above 14,000 feet within the state. It can be seen and recognized from very far away. From the large city of Portland and deep into Washington state.
These paintings are larger than what I typically do. I felt the landscapes of the PCT called for something more grand to be done about them. I do plan on painting smaller pieces as well, but those will come later, and depict different scenes. I have had a lot of fun reliving the trail through these the past months since finishing my hike. I hope you enjoy them as well!
