Telling the story of the places I’ve traveled hiking through art
In 2016 I walked 4,800 miles across the country, finishing my long hike at the southern most point in Key West Florida. The last portion of this adventure was along the Overseas Heritage Trail through the Keys. A bike path following that long skinny line of islands for more than 100 miles. Taking you past every iconic stop down there, and most notably was the seven mile bridge. Surrounded by water, with no where to go but forward. Just off to the west is where you’ll find this particular view, a small island known as Pigeon Key. Waking up every day and walking along the ocean, rising with the sun, and falling when it would set. This painting encapsulates that last leg of my trip. The endless docks, colors flooding the sky, and those lazy days by the ocean. I often think some day I’ll do that walk again.
