Description
Mt Rainier Night Sky
Landscape paintings inspired by my 2022 thru hike of the Pacific Crest Trail
Washington was my favorite section of the entire trail and I think as you approach Mt Rainier is when the trails starts to really hit its stride. This particular scene comes from just north of the Goat Rocks Wilderness famous ridge walk. While hiking up a short climb I was looking for a place to sleep for the night. Peering into some small trees and bushes I could see through the other side the most amazing view of Rainier. I watched sunset there, and even woke up early enough to catch sunrise as well before hiking off.
Washington will always hold a special place with me from the time I have spent there on the PCT as well as the PNT. It seemed like no matter where I’ve gone it has been beautiful and held magic in a new way.

These paintings are larger than what I typically do. I felt the landscapes of the PCT called for something more grand to be done about them. I do plan on painting smaller pieces as well, but those will come later and depict different scenes. I have had a lot of fun reliving the trail through these the past months since finishing my hike. I hope you enjoy them as well!
